DANCE PRODUCTION DATES AND INFO
Livingston and West Calder Branches (plus elites and seniors)
Stage Rehearsal – Sunday 22 April 10-4pm (Most pupils will come for around a 2 hr slot)
Show 1 Thursday 26th April (this is an extra date if required, will confirm later) 7-9pm
Show 2 Friday 27th April (confirmed date) 7-9pm

Bathgate and Whitburn Branches.
Bathgate Saturday classes will be split into 2 groups – group A and group B. This is because we have duplicate classes and large numbers in some classes. If we do not split them into 2 groups there will not be enough tickets to go around to enable everyone to see their child. If there is a particular weekend that suits you better please email me and I will pass on the info to their teacher. Remember to give me their names and the classes they attend. Sisters/brothers will always be put in the same group, if you want any children to be grouped together you must email me their names and class details immediately before we set the groups. Once the groups are set and dances have begun we cannot change groups. (Is your child taking first communion? Find out the dates as this may be the deciding factor to which weekend your child can perform). Bathgate Grade 3 and Grade 4 pupils can either be split into 2 groups and dance in separate weekends or stay as a full class together and dance both weekends. Pupils and parents of these grades can tell us what suits them best. Again, email your views to Miss Saunders if you have a preference.

PUPILS FROM EACH DANCE BRANCH ONLY DANCE IN THEIR OWN BRANCH SHOW UNLESS THEY ARE AN ELITE OR SENIOR. WE HAVE TRIED OUR BEST TO FIX OUR DATES SO THAT PUPILS DO NOT HAVE MANY LATE NIGHTS. OUR SHOWS ARE VERY SLICK, THEY RUN LIKE CLOCKWORK AND ARE EXTREMELY WELL ORGANISED.
WE ARE SURE EVERYONE WHO WISHES TO TAKE PART WILL GIVE US FULL COMMITMENT FOR THE REHEARSAL AND FULL WEEKEND SHOW EVENT TO MAKE THIS OUR BEST SHOW TO DATE! DO NOT WORRY IF YOUR CHILD WILL COPE, THEY LOVE IT AND TOTALLY TAKE IT IN THEIR STRIDE. REMEMBER IT IS ONLY ONE JAM PACKED WEEKEND EVERY 2 YEARS AND THIS ONE IS OUR “25TH ANNIVERSAY PRODUCTION”
DANCE SHOW AND TICKET INFORMATION
All dance rehearsals and show dates will be held in the “Deans Community High School Theatre” in Livingston.
This is a super venue with a gorgeous stage, excellent seating, great changing facilities close to the stage and the venue is local to all our classes.
Tickets will be priced at £12.00 for adults and £8.00 for children and OAPS. Tickets will go on sale from late February onwards. Tickets are sold on a first come first serve basis. We always sell out quickly so please be organised.
As this is Danceworld’s 25th Anniversary year we want to make this a really special one. We have lots of fabulous ideas for our theme, music, backdrops, lighting and most importantly our dances and costumes.
The show is not compulsory, pupils can opt in or out of our production although very few opt out as this is the part the children absolutely come to dancing for - “to perform and show off their skills”. It would also be hard to say who enjoys it more, the pupils or their parents!!
We need total commitment if you choose to take part in our event. Pupils will have specific spaces in dances and also partners. It is very upsetting to children if their partner does not show up for every performance. As you know, children do not cope well with change! We prepare the children for the show on the months leading up to the event and our stage rehearsal is always a fun and relaxed event so that all the children totally enjoy the whole experience. It is most important that all children attend the stage rehearsal as it is too big an ask to expect them to dance on a stage without having had a practise first.

if you are able to do this or know someone who is. Dressmakers will of course be paid for their services. We are always in need of helpers for basic sewing eg attatching elastic, buttons, hems, decorating with sequins etc etc. Please email your details and what you would like to help with. We are so grateful for any help as we know how precious everyone’s time is.
DRESSERS
You must provide a dresser for your child for each performance and also the stage rehearsal. Dressers must stay backstage with their child for the full duration of the event. It is not possible to dress your child and watch them too. No child or their belongings should be left unattended at anytime. A dresser can get up to 4 children ready at once. Usually parents get in to groups and help each other or they get family/friends to help them dress their child on the evening they are watching. Dressers are a very important part of the dance show, they get our pupils ready backstage for each dance, they have to supervise their behaviour and make sure each child is safe and looked after throughout the show.
COSTUME FEES
All costumes are hired for our dance production to keep costs down for parents. Once you have paid they are non refundable as costume making or buying will have begun.
TINY TOTS, PRE-JUNIORS AND JUNIORS will have a hired price of £6.00 per costume. If your child does ballet, tap and street dance he/she will require 3 costumes. The total hire fee will be £18.00 for the 3 or 4 performances (which only works out at a few pounds per costume per night).
GRADE 1 AND GRADE 2 will pay a hired charge of £7.00 per costume. If your child does ballet, tap and street dance he/she will require 3 costumes. The total hire fee will be £21.00 for the 3 or 4 performances (which only works out at a few pounds per costume per night).
GRADE 3 AND ALL ABOVE GRADES will pay a hired charge of £7.50 per costume. All these classes will do 2 dances for jazz and 1 each for both ballet and tap. The total hire fee will be £30.00 (for all subjects). They will be hired out for 3 or 4 performances which works out at only a couple of pounds per costume per night.
ELITES (JUNIOR 1 & 2 PLUS SENIOR ELITE) will do additional dances on top of their normal grade class dances. Their costume fee for this will be £20.00.
COSTUME FEES MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY SATURDAY 5TH NOVEMBER.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU GET A RECEIPT.
PLEASE LET TEACHERS KNOW IF YOUR CHILD IS NOT TAKING PART. THEY WILL NOT BE LEFT OUT OR TREATED ANY DIFFERENTLY IN CLASS BUT TEACHERS NEED TO KNOW WHERE TO PLACE THEM IN THE DANCES WHEN REHEARSING AND ALSO THEY WON’T NEED TO TRY ON COSTUMES ETC.
